History.... feature never loads anymore

I'm on 2.17.1.0, I use the right click + History... all the time, it seems that it is not functioning anymore, the screen shows up, stay empty and never loads.

Is it also not working on other files and other repositories?

Interestingly yes, all other file have the same issue, however, it did manage to load when I came back from lunch, so maybe there is an issue with our Git repo that is pretty old (we have nearly 10 years of history).

But it takes way more time than before, 30mins+ to load instead of few seconds like before.

Open terminal and run git gc. Then try again.

did, still very slow, but loads within 30 sec, so much better. Keep an eye on it I guess, if you see any changes that may have affected this.
