sACN Monitoring - Feature Request

It would be nice to be able to set the start universe and end universe for the monitoring function for sACN (and ArtNet too, honestly).

It would be also be nice to be able to set up multiple selections to monitor. (i.e. 1 through 10, 532 through 540, 1044 through 1060, etc) so that you can skip the empty universes in your show or go above universe 1024 without hitting the IGMP Querier with over 1024 Multicast Requests. If I have multiple acts and have them offset their starting universe by 1000, the current build of DMX Router doesn't allow for me to see their sACN streams. If I have multiple acts and offset their output by 100, I have to have extra multicast requests on my network switch, which at a certain point hits critical mass.

Hey @SirDur, engines always auto-join multicast for their input universes and sync addresses regardless of the sACN range spinbox value. So you can lower the spinbox to cut down the contiguous joins and create one engine per universe you actually need to monitor — that gets you multicast memberships only for those specific universes and lets you pick up discontiguous ranges above 1024 without joining the lower ones first.

Proper fix on my end: I'll look into adding multi-range support to the monitor (comma-separated list like 1-10, 532-540, 1044-1060, or a start+end pair) so the engine workaround isn't needed. Same UX would apply to the Art-Net monitor as a display filter — Art-Net is unicast for DMX data so there's no IGMP problem there, but the filtering should match.

No timeline yet, but I'll get to it.
