There's already something in the library to do this, but it's pretty basic. See errplane_exceptions.js

You can use it like so:

errplaneExceptions = new ErrplaneExceptions({
  apiKey: "...", 
  appKey: "...", 
  envKey: "production"});

// it will use window.onerror to catch exceptions. Alternatively, you can wrap
// code in try/catch and send yourself. Assuming you've already initialized a 
// new errplaneExceptions object:
try {
  // do stuff that causes exception
}
catch (e) {
  errplaneExceptions.logToErrplane(e, 
    {stuff: "this options hash will pass along custom data and context"});
}
