dotnet 10 is current lts yet dotnet interactice still requires dotnet 9?

Created a blank aspire app from the visual studio 2026 template and attempted a publish to azure,

Saw this in console:

This log output is unrelated to the Aspire issue.

Having this issue on a new project I just upgraded to .net core 10.
I was having the exact issue described, but then I manually created the dotnet-tools.json file in the hopes it would force it to use the existing version of dotnet interactive...
I can find no mention of where '1.0.616301' is specified that I have to use or why that is keyed to .net 9?

@nl-loves did this also occur for you when spinning up an Aspire app in VS? Or a different project? Could you share more details about the repro steps you have?

This is happening for me, using the generated .http file clicking Send request shows the same error in the output.

.net 10, asp.net core api project, untouched from default template

I have updated VS to the latest.

Looks like it is looking for .net 9:
