Installing on Mac OS

Is there a fundamental reason this package requires linux? Or is it/could it be possible to provide Mac OS support?

There is no fundamental reason, I think it should work on OSX/BSD/windows too. Basically all that is needed is for librocksdb shared library to be available.
I only use linux however... so I can't really help with this.
Please do try, and if any changes are needed on orocksdb I'll gladly take them in.
