we have deprecated prettier as the pre-commit hook is deprecated. we still, however, run it in our git actions on the changed files. This results in devs thinking their changes are good but met with linting issues are pushing.
I noticed this when removing mentions of editor for our docs so there are 3 PRs attached--removing the mentions of editor as well as updating the linting strategy so json, yml, md are captured
