"lock settings" is very useful if your settings e.g. global variables contain sensitive data.

Unfortunately it is a one off action, once you have unlocked the settings you need to make sure to lock it again manually, which requires certain discipline and may missed accidentally.

Request:
Make "lock settings" permanent.
Or the other way round. Lock settings again, if app goes into background or a lock button is pressed. Preserve existing password.

Security considerations:
Even if the password is cached in the app while settings are unlocked a compromise is far more unlikely as leaving the app totally unlocked accidentally.
As the password is only cached if settings are unlocked, this exposure is very rare.
