[REQUEST] Better file format conversion and interoperability

Is your feature request related to a problem? How pervasive is the problem? Please describe.
Different components or pipelines use various types of file formats, and it's cumbersome to try to teach/learn disparate tools.

Support conversion between the major file formats:

• obj
• out
• ply
• png (slices)
