Someone plagiarized your project

Hey friend, this was the only way I could reach you. Some girl called Susan Aguilar plagiarized your project and submitted it as hers on Coursera. I just happen to be the reviewer and when I opened it on vs code, Gitlens showed your commits all over the place.

I think she didn't know that the information about the author was available in the repo. My guess is that she cloned your repo, zipped it, and submitted it as hers.

That is wild! I wonder if there is any way to set a trap in there for any would be future plagiarists.... Any ideas?

You could write a script that automatically runs once the Django server starts.

This script could send you an email containing data read from the plagiarist's computer. Such could be

• username
• OS
• timezone
• location
• github global credentials
• anything else that could help you identify the suspect

PS: I'm going to create such script. It sounds like a very interesting idea.

This is a very clever idea. I suppose anything written in the settings.py file will run when the server starts. If you come up with something you think will work submit a PR!
