I have been experimenting with some task tracking apps (ManicTime, Timeular). When tracking a task manually, what I have been missing most is the possibility to capture with one glance if tracking is active and possibly which task is tracked at the moment.
I imagine it could be very helpful if this information (activity, task) could be visualized continuously to the user. For example in Windows using an icon in the notification area:
In Windows a user can customize which icons are permanently visible in the Windows taskbar. The app could have an icon which visualizes the information. For example using different shapes for the state (▶️/⏸️) and maybe different colors for the tasks.
