Nobara is not a supported operating system. This is likely to be a bug on their end. |

@lemorak, @DarkenLX, what would these fedora based distros be using that would be occupying port 8080? From the logs lemorak provided it appears that port 8080 is either being blocked from being accessed by decky somehow or another program is blocking 8080. Until that program, daemon/service or library is identified we won't be able to help much on non-SteamOS configuration as it is not our main target. |

@TrainDoctor But when I enter "lsof -i :8080" in my terminal the list is empty... When I open steam on desktop mode I get: |

Not sure because bazzite is pretty close to nobara at the core except bazzite at its core is immutable nobara is not. I can Go through my log and see if its the same and post if not or if something extra might be causing that on lemorak's device.. however it looks like they are using an msi claw unless theres something that gets installed for the claw that would be using the 8089 port.. i do know nobara uses HHD daemon for the controller usage not sure if bazzite does thats the only thing that immediately comes to mind. |

Yes i seem to found a workaround it seems that if the system is booting up into the desktop you need to setup nobara to boot directly to game mode which just switching to the game mode from being booted into desktop doesn't trigger decky loader i would guess its a bug with SDDM (simple display manager) essentially turn off auto login in the system settings in desktop mode (search sddm login in system settings) apply then log out *warning you need an external (usb) keyboard to enter password..at the login select Steam Deck mode in the upper left. And login. It should boot into game mode..use steam menu>power>switch to desktop. It will log you out to the login screen repeat previous step except select plasma re-enable auto login. And make sure the log back in after log out check box is checked apply and restart the system it should boot to game mode and decky should be available. |

@DarkenLX I tried bazzite and there was HHD installed but decky worked fine. No problem when switching from desktop mode. I will try the workaround. It is a bit awkward to reboot everytime when using desktop mode but when there is no fix it will do. |

@DarkenLX the workaround doesn't work. I disable autoboot, change the Session to steam deck mode and login. But when I want to switch to desktop mode the login screen comes again and I have to change the Session to plasma to enter desktop mode so the change will be reset and it has no effect... What is interesting: even when I try to switch to desktop mode but log in with steam Mode still selected decky will dissapear. It only shows up after a proper reboot |

It might something bugging out with something specific to the MSI claw as it isn't amd hardware so different linux drivers/libraries so it maybe something actually conflicting as the workaround wont even work. |

@DarkenLX so I have to switch the OS to get it to work correctly. The problem is as far as I know nobara works best with the claw. Bazzite has the wifi bug after wake up and the wattage in the Performance overlay is missing... |

After you log out / switch to desktop the first time it will send you back to the login screen and then you select plasma and login then go enable the auto login again make sure that box in the settings for auto login that says either plasma or steam deck mode (its a drop down menu) make sure it says deck mode then save/apply and reboot because without auto login it won't switch to desktop and back without having to have you login each time..

@DarkenLX It worked only the first time. After that I switched to desktop mode and it is again when I reboot from desktop mode it is desktop mode and from game mode it is game mode. |

Im going to try and take a look at the script bazzite runs to install decky im wondering if it may set some kind of permissions or something else because i know decky works on bazzite and they use stuff from nobaraos so unless they (bazzite) fixed something specific that occurs in nobara that messes decky up it should work without issue.. i don't know if the script they use can be shared elsewhere so i probably cant post it here.. but lemme see if or what is in the script and test some things might be a day or more before I can report back anything.. however if you are knowledgeable in nobara and bazzite you're welcome to do the same grab the bazzite decky script and look through it just don't run it as is because it requires ujust/just to run it outright which is i believe ublue and bazzite exclusive. To get the script you'll either have to find it on ublue or bazzite github or get it from the os installed on something not sure if it's in the bazzite install image or not. |

Ok so i don't think there's anything really out of the the ordinary that i can tell however it does look like nobara maybe having issues with the CEF debug enabled as "Steamwebhelper" process seems to crash all lot if you look at the crashed process viewer so seeing as decky usually needs that my guess is that would be possibly the start of the cause not sure if its user resolvable. Or if its something on nobaras end. But i would say at The moment its not decky currently thats the cause its something it's relying on not working correctly. |

@lemorak if you are looking for a distro that works with decky (unofficially) thats like and works like SteamOS but mutable use cachyos (handheld version.) its Arch based.. i tested it and it works..unless you specifically want or need a fedora based one currently the only option is bazzite which is immutable. |

@DarkenLX thank you for your testing. I will try cachyos. Maybe this will be my go to distro. |

Converting this to discussion as it seemingly isn't a loader issue. |

someone on reddit wrote that he was able to fix this by adding "sudo systemctl start plugin_loader.service" within /usr/bin/gamescope-session-plus. I would try this but i have no clue in wich line i have to add this to load properly. |
