Implement bearing hint when close to a waypoint

Take a look on screenshot, how bad it is directing me.
Because I scanned the sample by Anaconda which is 200m itself, so in such cases coordinates system transpose should be done:

So I think, coordinate reported in log as scan point was 120 m away, because it was reported MY sit into Anaconda.

The logs only report your coordinates, not the bio coordinates. I believe this is mentioned in the description. Even if I tried to somehow account for the distance from the cockpit to the front of your ship there's no telling how far away from the bio you may be. Even actual scans are not perfect when calculating minimum sample distance but it will only ever be off by a few meters.

But it should still get you roughly in the vicinity depending on how close you were when comp scanning. You'd have to be within visual distance at the very least.

Well, ship's sizes are known. I think, Anaconda and Vettie should be corrected only. Another problem, you don't know angle, I suspect, if I would scan strict vertical it would be proper coordinate, i.e. it is projection to the ground.
Something to think on. Maybe workaround could be to report "the circle with ship size radius" instead "exact" distance.
On screen it was misleading me more than helping, for example. Because there are small hills + I had to rotate ship to land ...I just lost direction.

Perhaps but the coordinates are relative to your position in the cockpit so it's not the full length of the ship, but some portion I'd have to figure out.

And yeah I think it only reports bearing, not pitch.

And even then that's not accounting for the true distance from the bio.

One possibility is I could record your bearing with the waypoint data so it could at least point you in the direction of the bio. Though I'm not sure how I'd display that, particularly in text.

Well, we need direction.
So when I scan we get direction to where head points. And we have some coordinate, distance from it to the actual sample can be much different because it is hull projected to ground length + distance of how far away I was from the sample.
So what if we use those 2 things (coordinate + azimuth) then we build infinite vector. So all points on this vector could be our sample.
And than somehow help user check all points of this vector...

As I said, I can try to grab your bearing at the time of the scan and display that. Though the status.json data can be a bit slow to update in the ship.

But it may be close enough to be useful most of the time.

So if I show your bearing when within 10m of the waypoint or something, hopefully that will point you in the correct direction.

1. Build line through waypoint with azimuth. Somewhere on this line it will be the true sample.
2. When user walks, in addition, show direction to projection of the current position to the line (1) and probably distance to this line..
   So once I step on this line I get "infinite" angle because i'm on it, and 0 distance. Now I know I should move to waypoint or 180 reverse from it.

Yes, you're right. If I can come to exact waypoint, than I can follow original azimuth and find sample exact. It is simpler.

Would be cool to have something little explaining, like when you step 0 meters to waypont, show message "if you don't see the sample, follow to exact xxx degree up-to yyy meters" (which is roughly ship length).
