Make IMAGE-Monarch compatible with latest Android Studio and/or Gradle version

Attempting to build the IMAGE-Monarch application on the latest Android version (as of 29 Aug, 2025) fails.
While we are still able to build it with Android Studio Electric Eel | 2022.1.1 Patch 2 and gradle-7.4 this is likely to become more problematic as we diverge further from the latest especially if the version we are working on becomes unavailable.
