Permitting data import from SOCR datasets

Since the application is being hosted with socr.ucla.edu hostname and most of the SOCR datasets are available at wiki.stat.ucla.edu host an xhr request is being treated as violation of the same origin policy.

This can be bypassed with Cross-Origin Resource Sharing between the two hosts

The required syntax would be

Access-Control-Allow-Origin: http://socr.ucla.edu

in the server configuration of wiki.stat.ucla.edu which may be altered in the .htaccess file or the httpd.conf file in case of Apache

Since we can't let go this feature, and Cross Origin Resource Sharing is a bit tricky part, there are two possible solutions

1.Host both SOCR data and this application on the same server.

A simple solution but might disturb the current organisation of different experiments and dataset

2.Export SOCR data as JSON

wiki.ucla.stat.edu which currently is being powered by mediawiki has an option to export data in JSON format as well in their API (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/API:Data_formats). The good part about this idea is that SOCR datasets would be accessible not only to Resampling application but to anyone who wishes to use them in their applications. Supporting this option is the fact that JSON is faster and preferred method for information interchange
