Beginners Guide to Testing in Rails with RSpec #29

Description

Abstract

Starting to write tests is overwhelming, when I started testing a year back I couldn't find blogs or videos that were beginner friendly (I am writing a blog about it soon too!!)

This talk could focus on following topics:

  • Basic terms in testing (describe, context, it, stubbing, mocking, etc.). Basically cover all jargons.
  • Writing your first test (a lot of slides for step by step code to approach your first testing)
    • Validations and Public Methods in the Model
    • Requests
    • Views

Not all parts of Rails can be covered for sure in one talk as a talk more than 15-20 minutes can get boring pretty easily so breaking the talk in 2 parts might be the way to go.

Speak or Suggest

  • Suggestion (Suggesting a topic eager to see/learn)

I don't want to commit on this yet as I am just giving my first talk after not being able to prepare the presentation for a year 🙈

I do think @zoras dai will be great for this if he is available, I liked the last talk (December, 2022 meetup) he had given for Code Kata with TDD approach.

Talk Duration
