[BUG] Auto-approve can't be stopped

Auto-approve fires after x seconds and can't be stopped, only when deactivated in the settings every time. This leads to false first answer-"option" which cost credit

Every person that have to review the wall of text the agent wrote. Or not at the computer at all.

Reproduction steps

Activate "Auto-approve" Just give the agent a complex task and wait for the first question with this options:

1. Expensive to-do which doesn't do anything beside costs
2. Cheap correct solution.

Expected result

The auto-approve is stoppable or stops itself on critical questions

Actual result

The auto-approve question prompt offers the user a deadline of some seconds

I've analyzed this issue and here's my proposed implementation plan:

Problem: When auto-approve is enabled for follow-up questions, a countdown timer fires after X seconds and automatically selects the first suggestion. The only way to stop it is to either start typing in the input box, click a suggestion, or go to settings and disable auto-approve entirely. There is no explicit "cancel" button on the timer itself.

Proposed fix: Add a clickable cancel/stop button directly on the countdown timer UI in the FollowUpSuggest component (webview-ui/src/components/chat/FollowUpSuggest.tsx).

1. Add a small "X" (close/cancel) button next to the countdown timer text (the <p> element at line 132 that shows the timer)
2. When clicked, it will:
   • Set suggestionSelected to true to stop the visual countdown
   • Call onCancelAutoApproval() to cancel the backend timeout in Task.ts via the existing cancelAutoApprovalTimeout() method
3. Add a localization key for the cancel button tooltip (e.g. chat:followUpSuggest.cancelTimer)
4. Update existing tests in webview-ui/src/components/chat/__tests__/FollowUpSuggest.spec.tsx and add a new test verifying the cancel button works

This is a minimal, focused change that uses the existing cancellation infrastructure (onCancelAutoApproval prop and cancelAutoApprovalTimeout backend method). The user gets a visible, one-click way to stop the auto-approve countdown without having to navigate to settings.

When there is a option to stop, and this option is clicked, it just asks again if it can proceed. The only way to stop it is over the setting and to disable the question setting or the auto-improve at all which means you have to click everything. The stop button should be there when there is a question.

@roomote the issue is that in questions there is no stop button in the chat box (the button that is normally used to stop a chat)

I've seen your comment and understand the issue - when the agent asks a follow-up question, the normal "stop" button in the chat input area is missing, so users have no way to abort the task during a question. I'll explore a fix and open a PR to share progress.

Opened a draft PR with my attempt at addressing this: #12272

The fix adds a dedicated stop button in the chat text area that appears during follow-up questions. Previously the stop button was hidden because isStreaming is false during asks, and the send/stop button morphed to just a send button. Now users can both send a response and stop the task. Feedback welcome!
