Ghost Effect not working

So, I'm making a game, and I'm using the ghost effect for a fade in, but instead of making the sprite transparent, it's adding some white crust around the sprite (as seen in the images). Is this a site issue or is it only me?

Just to check, you are for sure using the ghost effect and not the brightness effect? I ask because that looks like the brightness effect, and not ghost.
