What happened?

Environment

  • Octopus Deploy Cloud
  • Version: 2026.2.5959

Scenario

We have configured the default ServiceNow integration in Octopus Deploy.

When a Change Request (CR) is created and linked as part of the deployment process, an intermittent banner appears in the Octopus UI.

Issue

  • The banner keeps appearing and disappearing repeatedly.
  • This behavior continues while the CR is in earlier stages (e.g., New / Assess / Authorize).
  • Once the CR is moved to the "Implement" stage, the banner stops appearing and disappears permanently.

Expected Behavior

  • The banner should behave consistently and not flicker or repeatedly appear/disappear.
  • It should either remain stable or update only when there is a real state change.

Actual Behavior

  • Banner is unstable (flickering / reappearing frequently).
  • Stops only when CR reaches "Implement" stage.

Additional Notes

  • This seems like a UI glitch or state synchronization issue with the ServiceNow integration.
  • Observed consistently when using the default integration setup.

Reproduction

  1. Configure the default ServiceNow integration in Octopus Deploy.

  2. Create or trigger a deployment process that requires a ServiceNow Change Request (CR).

  3. Allow Octopus to create/link the CR in ServiceNow.

  4. Keep the CR in an initial stage (e.g., New / Assess / Authorize).

  5. Observe the Octopus Deploy UI during this time.

  6. Notice that a banner message appears and disappears repeatedly (flickering behavior).

  7. Move the CR to the "Implement" stage in ServiceNow.

  8. Return to Octopus Deploy UI and observe that the banner no longer appears.
