Redirection from https://www.open-bio.org/events/bosc works but from https://www.open-bio.org/bosc does not

I want both of these URLs (with or without a closing slash) to redirect to https://www.open-bio.org/events/bosc-2024:

• https://www.open-bio.org/events/bosc - this redirects as desired to bosc-2024
• https://www.open-bio.org/bosc - this inexplicably shows a cgi-bin subdirectory, even though the redirect rule looks parallel. See screenshots.

This may be a WP problem, but I don't understand what it is.

@nlharris I did some googling and it seems like the general advice is to clear the WP site's cache, is that something you have access to do?
