enable wiki in SLiM repository

Hey @bhaller,

The discussion in #623 got me thinking that maybe it would be a good idea to have a wiki page that outlines the release process for each OS package? This can be enabled from under the settings page for the github repo. Or is this info compiled elsewhere? I know you have an uber-manual that contains some installation info, but release management seems outside the scope there, and a wiki would be editable by more people (and as adhoc as required).

Thoughts?

Yeah, this is a good idea, although not presently urgent. Right now the info is compiled in documents kept on my own personal machine. The procedures for doing a new release are really quite complex; right now my documentation for how to do the production of the various components – testing, tags, manuals, ref sheets, macOS installer, conda, GitHub, SLiM home page, etc. – runs to several pages. It's not easy to codify in a form that would be comprehensible to anyone but me, partly because it is just arcane and learned by trial and error, partly because it depends upon third-party software, partly because there are accounts and passwords involved. But of course all this needs to be public and organized, somehow, before I someday depart the scene. I've been pondering this problem for a while now. I'll leave this issue open as a reminder.

For now I created a wiki: https://github.com/MesserLab/SLiM/wiki. I don't know whether you have the ability to edit it. If you do, feel free to set up whatever you have in mind, and then I and others can add content to it later. Thanks!

Ok, cool. I don't have access to the wiki. I guess anyone with commit access will have wiki edit access by default, but it should be possible to give wiki edit access without commit access. Somewhere in the bowels of the settings maybe?

There are apparently only two settings: "editable only by collaborators" and "editable by anyone with a GitHub account". I've just switched it to the latter, so now it is wide open. If that proves to be a problem, I'll close it back down and make you a collaborator instead, but maybe spammers haven't discovered this barn door yet, lol. We shall see. Anyhow, for now it's editable!
