Not much development has been done on it since 2024. Opensourcing DS would mean that not only it could be improved at a faster rate (such as changing the algorithm used so that even if carrier file is a lossy one (like MP3 or OGG) the data can still be preserved - meaning you don't have to have a lot of suspicious FLAC or WAV files laying around, or adding the command line version for automation), but also it would mean the development can continue even if you aren't physically able to do it anymore.
