The timer implemented in #4 will actually stop working after the carousel has been sitting idle and cycling for 24 hours. Not sure if the Android OS and Garbage Collector are kicking in and terminating the task.
Need to explore another option for this type of long-running operation, since we would want this carousel to continue cycling through the images in perpetuity. Not sure if it would require the overhead of an Android Service, or maybe a Broadcast Receiver for the system clock MINUTE tick event.
