Error creating RStudio Session

I'm getting an error when I try to create a new session in RStudio Workbench. I connected to the VPN and followed the instructions in the video, but getting an Internal Server Error when I try to create a RStudio session (see screenshots attached). When I try to do the other Jupyter options, I don't get an error popup but also no session is created.

Is anyone else encountering the same issue or know what this might be caused by? Thanks!

This is affecting a couple of other people as well - i suspect it may have to do with a failure to initialize your home directory on the department's file server. I've pinged out IT people and I'm awaiting a response.

One quick thing you can try if you're feeling adventurous is to try to connect to the server via ssh first (PuTTY on Windows, Terminal on MacOS then ssh <netid>@rstudio.stat.duke.edu). If you are able to connect that way and no errors are reported (e.g. something like Could not chdir to home directory) then that may bootstrap the process and then RStudio sessions might work. If you try this and it does or does not work let me know either way.

I ssh'ed in through Terminal with no error, and I signed back into RStudio Workbench and was able to create the sessions. Thank you!

Have the same issue, the terminal method works for me too.
