Short description:

The crash when using JDK 23 to launch the game and attempting to edit in the Scripting Terminal
Maybe related to oracle/graaljs#825

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Launch the game using JDK 23
2. Open the Scripting Terminal
3. Attempt to edit
4. Game crash

Expected behaviour:

not crash

• Mod loader version: Forge 47.3.6

I'm running on JDK 23 (HotSpot) myself, and things are running fine here.

In any case, I've attempted to bump to the latest Graal version (https://github.com/CyclopsMC/IntegratedScripting/tree/feature/test-ci-java), but things seem to be breaking.
So it's not a simple matter of just updating the version unfortunately.
I'll need to have a closer look at this at some point in the future.
But since most MC users are running on Java 17 (and I'm running it fine on Java 23), I'll give this a lower priority.

Note to self, continue from https://github.com/CyclopsMC/IntegratedScripting/tree/feature/test-ci-java, and if that works, downport to 1.20-lts (not 1.19-lts, since forgegradle probably won't support it yet).

Graal has been bumped to the latest version in the next release.
This has only been released for MC 1.20 and 1.21.
I wasn't able to reproduce your exact problem, but the CI shows that this is working for various Java versions and distributions.
So I hope it will work for you as well.
The new versions are now pending review on CurseForge.
