In HaxeFlixel, this is typically done using the following:

FlxG.save.bind("mod", "CodenameEngine");

...in which you call the primary FlxSave instance's bind method to create or recollect the save data specified in the appropriate file under the save directory.

Do note that this is from an old project of mine from around nine months ago, so the line above may not work with the new save system, as I haven't had a chance to interact with that properly yet.

In regards to the original post, you may want to create an appropriate issue at hscript-improved, which is the library responsible for providing scripting capabilities and allows reading from HScript files in the first place.

For the second comment, there is a rewrite of the wiki in development that is planned to be merged once it is complete, although documentation of custom options is not available yet. In any case, you are able to contribute to it to add custom options documentation.
