Observation

Repetitive local testing has borne out what appears to be an issue with properly refreshing the Media Library. Simply refreshing it in listFix() does not pick up changes made to the local media library. It requires first removing the Media Directory, restarting listFix(), and reloading the Media Directory afresh.

Software

  • Windows 10
  • listFix "Portable" v2.11.3

Steps

  1. Start listFix().
  2. Add a media directory.
  3. Continue to load and repair broken playlists in the Playlist Editor as usual.

It is crucial to note here that certain tracks, which are known to exist in the medial library, are not getting discovered by the Repair Playlist Wizard.

  1. Stop, do not close listFix().
  2. Go to your stored media library, i.e. the one reflected in the listFix() Media Directory.
  3. Open some of the media folders containing files that are concurrent with those in the listFix() Playlist Editor. Edit to change their filenames.
  4. Return to listFix().
  5. Refresh the Media Directory.
  6. Go back to the Playlist Editor.
  7. Run the Wizard again on the same broken playlist, i.e. the one for which it could not discover certain matching tracks.
  8. Notice the Issue here: The Repair Wizard still does not locate the correct matching track, despite the Media Directory having been refreshed after the local library edit (6.).
  9. Now, remove the listFix() Media Directory.
  10. Close listFix().
  11. Restart listFix().
  12. Add the previous Media Directory again.
  13. Run the Repair Wizard on the same broken playlist again.
  14. The Wizard now locates the matching files more readily, correctly.
