Just wanna thank you for keeping you motivated to maintain the lib :-) This is the only library for the purpose I've found on PyPI. It works like a charm. In the past, I was writing dir diff by hand for each project.

Just out of curiosity, could you describe your use cases for this lib? Do you use the pytest plugin?

Sure, I'll happily share my use case. I need to compare directories in tests very often. It is the most straightforward and most complete approach to testing code that produces some files. For me, in 100% cases, I am using dir-content-diff as a Pytest plugin.

For example, recently I created a https://github.com/documatt/sphinx-doc-template and https://github.com/documatt/sphinx-theme-template. I test both projects by expanding the template and comparing the actual output with the expected output.

Unfortunately, I was not aware of dir-content-diff at that time, so I had to write a manual comparison of directories. Quickly, I have found that directory comparison is not easy. My code is ugly and hacky. In the next release, I will definitely use dir-content-diff.

So it's the exact same use case as our when I created this package :⁠-⁠)
I guess it's the most straightforward use case for such tool, though I think it could also be used to compare files in other contexts. Maybe it could be interesting to create an extension for Meld or similar other tools to compare the files in a less strict way... But I don't need this for now so I will not develop it 😄
Anyway, I hope you will keep enjoying this package 😊

I just wanted to inform you that I had some time to do something I wanted for a long time: implement parallel computation. It's now available in release 1.14.0
I don't know if it's relevant in your case but feel free to report any issue if you use it (by default the parallel execution is disabled).
