Cancel an update leaves UI inconsistent with database

Minimal steps to reproduce

Add a new Hero. Then select that Hero to edit it. Perform a small edit. Selected Hero in the list changes to reflect edit. Cancel edit. List is not updated to revert changes -- browser has to be refreshed to get correct view of data.

Any log messages given by the failure

Expected/desired behavior

Pressing Cancel should revert changes to the selected Hero in the list.
