JamesDSP loses audio in random fashion

Hi,

as the title says, and every time I have to select "Relink Audio Pipeline" in order to have the audio back. This is happening mostly in Firefox.

Maybe you have the same issue I had.

I had the following log entries in journalctl journalctl --user -u pipewire

I fixed it with an default sample-rate.
Here is how I did:

Create a default sample-rate ~/.config/pipewire/pipewire.conf.d/sample-rate.conf for 48khz:

context.properties = {
    default.clock.rate = 48000
    default.clock.allowed-rates = [ 48000 ]
}

Restart pipewire with systemctl --user restart pipewire wireplumber (or reboot if you want to be fully sure)

Now your Firefox audio should work again without getting lost.

Hi and thanks for your reply.

Well, I had these settings (along with the wireplumber resolution set to 24bit) nut I removed them in an attempt to troubleshoot the problem with the intermittent audio absence in Firefox.

The only difference is that in my settings I had also set the rest of the allowed sample rates.

But I had a progress in my attempts to resolve the problem. My distro is Manjaro which is Arch based and in the AUR repo there are 3-4 different versions of jamesDSP. I started testing all the available versions and now I stuck on jamesDSP-pipewire-bin which seems to work so far but I don't know why.

I will restore the samples rates (using your fixed config) and the resolution and test again.

Hmm, I always use pipewire-bin from AUR as well.
But maybe I have another idea.
At the same routine I updated everything including some driver and all my disabled audio devices, including the nvidia hdmi audio controller, got re-eanbled again. At the same step where I created my default sample-rate I also disabled all devices once again.
So maybe there lies the problem? Maybe try disable all not needed devices as well, once the problem reoccurs.
Otherwise I am out of options, but glad it is currently working for you!

So it seems that this version must be the correct one. I use KDE's system settings to disable the audio devices I don't need (namely Nvidia's HDMI).

Is there some other way to make sure these devices are completely off ?
