Add MCP server integrations

Overview

Set up Model Context Protocol (MCP) server integrations to enhance development workflow and tooling capabilities.

Completed Work

• ✅ Created .mcp.json configuration file in project root
• ✅ Installed and configured GitHub MCP server
• ✅ Verified GitHub MCP connection and functionality

Future MCP Integrations to Consider

High Priority

• Filesystem MCP - Enhanced file system operations beyond standard tools
• PostgreSQL MCP - Direct database access for Supabase schema operations

Medium Priority

• Sentry MCP - Error monitoring and tracking integration
• Brave Search MCP - Web search capabilities for research and documentation lookup
• Sequential Thinking MCP - Enhanced reasoning and problem-solving capabilities

Low Priority (Research needed)

• Custom Playwright MCP - If we need browser automation beyond existing scripts
• Custom Time Tracking MCP - Potential integration with the app's own API

Benefits

• Improved development workflow automation
• Better integration with external services
• Enhanced AI assistant capabilities for repository management
• Streamlined access to project resources and documentation

Notes

• MCP configuration is shared via .mcp.json for team consistency
• Authentication tokens should be set as environment variables, not committed to repo
• Each MCP server should be evaluated for actual utility before integration

Implementation Notes

GitHub MCP Setup (Completed)

The GitHub MCP server is now operational and provides the following capabilities:

• Repository file operations (list, read, search)
• Issue and PR management
• Branch and commit information
• Code search across the repository

Authentication Setup

For private repository access or higher rate limits:

1. Generate a GitHub Personal Access Token: https://github.com/settings/tokens
2. Set environment variable in your shell profile (~/.zshrc or ~/.bashrc):

   export GITHUB_PERSONAL_ACCESS_TOKEN="your_token_here"

3. Restart your terminal or source the profile file
